Cloud Computing

What is cloud computing? This question was ask to us in class and i was a little bit unsure about the term. i figure that it is and way to compute with other networks and blogs to get and give information throughout this web server better know as a cloud because it is not software or hardware for your computer but is does serve as the same purpose in several ways. but im not too sure so i’ll research to find a better answer or explanation of the topic. after reading FAQ: CLOUD COMPUTING DEMYSTIFIED i started to get a better understanding of the term. Now Im starting to see that Cloud Computing is just like having a larger hard drive but only its not right in front of you and you don’t hav to worry about crashed….yet! I understand that this whole cloud computing is going to be a marjor asset for small business owners who can afford to purchase a large main frame server because its going to worth way more in a couple of years and if he/she could run it as a business that would be even better. The information that you put on a Cloud could be critical to you or your company How Much Data Should You Put Online? is a god question and i really dont know but it would be up to you to trust the company with this data or tr and keep it your self…..I THINK OF IT LIKE ITS AN ONLINE BANK FOR DATA!!!!!

Twitter?

I missed class last week but my fellow classmates informed me that the topic was twitter and what is it about. From my understanding twitter is a new social networking site that have rapidly grown over the past couple of months. i think because it is so easy to use but at the same time it could be misunderstood in all kinds of ways. when i first got my twitter account i was a little unsure of how it worked also about what actually to do but it is so simple, in a way it cuts out the silence of a phone conversation with a simple question “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” that is the only question twitters ask and it is up to you to post what you are doing or not. i think twitter is a good way to let people know about you or your business and what is happening in current news. i have started to notice that just about every Television station or News channel now have twitter and are posting news in their off air time. celebrities have also took twitter to be more involved with their fans, getting a tweet from a celebrity makes a fan feel more like friend rather than an idol. I enjoy using Twitter and have found it to be very informative and fun all in one so look me up on Twitter.

Missed Class

I have to miss class today, yesterday i had to drive to Louisiana for a family emergency so if anybody could keep me up to date with the assignments i would greatly appeciate it thanks for helping me!

Communities of Practice

The assignment was given to discuss the Communities of Practice. When i first heard the word i didn’t know what to think of the term. This term I’m not to familiar with but like everything else we have been studying I’m pretty sure that it effects me and what I do in many ways. After searching around the topic i found that term means that it is a process of social learning. I think that it may be something like different people that are into the same fields come together in a social networking environment and create some what of a practice to get better or to inquire more information about a topic or idea. And again i look at our class as being a Interactive Media Community of Practice because we are a group of working student with similar problems and ideas about topics. These articles help me come up with these ideas about what it is. The videos also helped me with just understanding what the term is.

Professional Blogging

As the term professional blogger or blogging come up in class i automatically think about it being a person who is a pro at creating and maintaining blogs. I think that a pro blogger is someone who takes blogging very seriously and have numerous topics and ideas to create conversations and get results from different people. I look at blogs as being no more than just a larger group discussion where your words will be heard to those who wants to listen to what you have to say about different topics weather or not they agree with you and your idea or disagree. Interacting in class with the other classmates will help me become a better blogger by bring ideas to talk about in a group discussion. Creating a blog is free to do but to get your word out and to have people actually look at what you have to say can be a little hard to do. After i read the articles I’ve gotten a better understanding of what a professional blogger really is and how i can become one also and i will add these techniques to my current blogs to get better results on traffic. I realize that not only posting blogs but reading them also will help me be a better blogger and defiantly posting to other blogs my input on topics will gain a better relationship and will create or join a community of blogger which may evolve me into being a pro blogger.

Collective Intelligence a.k.a Connective Intelligence

This is really the first I have heard of the term so I really would know what it actually means to me until i sit down and do a little research on the topic…

After watching this clip I start to get a better understanding of the term, I know that it is ideas and thoughts that are collect from a group of diverse thinkers, but still not to clear on the term so i will do more research.

After reading and viewing the material I have grown to notice that Collective Intelligence have been around for as long as people have sat down to discuss ideas which is forever. This means that since the internet and web is growing rapidly this will play a major part in some one who is deciding to take up Interactive Media as a focus for school. Collective Intelligence is no-more than what our class is, its just that some company’s tend to use larger groups to have more wide variety on the subject that is at hand. For example if the teacher was to give a assignment to the class to complete as a group we would have to come together as a Collective Intelligence group to make sure all of our ideas are met and all questions are answered, so i think that our class can be considered a group of people who uses Collective Intelligence. And know the information that I know i can understand who companies put together focus groups, to see what the consumer like r feels about a product in a collective way, but it really wouldn’t be effective if everybody thought the same about a product you need to have diversity because there are all kinds of people in this world and everybody would like to have that feel of a product made just for them to enjoy.

RSS Feeds, What does it mean to me

Well I’m just really getting familiar with the term RSS which means Really Simple Syndication it hasn’t been around to long. To me RSS feeds are just a ways to stay up to date with current events, such as news and blog pages. If used properly one can obtain very useful information at the very time it is posted for the web to see. And with today’s on going trend of everybody wants to know everything that they possibly can right away these RSS feeds will only help with knowing up to date information. I never really used RSS feeds but now that i have some more knowledge on the topice i think i will look into actually putting a few feeds into action so that they can help me in many ways. What does a PLE Mean to ME!

The question was asked in class what does a P.L.E (Personal Learning Environment) mean to me? In the beginning of this assignment I thought of a PLE as no more than just a basic personal learning environment such a space or setting that someone uses to take advantage of learnig differnt material or to just study and do homework. but after reading and view different articles, blogs, and Youtube™ videos I’ve gotten a better understanding of what it actually means and how i been using it to better my self with my study habits and just general web surfing. Below are a few aids that i used to help me with understanding it better.

After reading these blog and articles about PLE’s I’ve grown to realize that a PLE is nothing more than a way that i use my tools to gather information and use it to better myself and workflow and how I complete thing in a tasks full way and to process what I need to process the information that is given. I also learned that in doing this i may need to come up with a mind map to help me with keeping thing in a orderly fashion. My PLE would be my computer and I use it for everything that I possibly can use it for, and that its a lap top only helps me with being more mobile in my everyday life. I have noticed that over time other peoples PLE have also changed, with todays time PLE’s are set on a standard of what the consumer is interested in and not what the supplier wants to market, now that that technology has taken a turn for the beter its only right that our PLE will soon be a better way to complete things.

Web 2.0

After reading several articles on web 2.0 I’m started to get a better understanding  of what it actually is. From what I’m starting to understand that web 2.0 is fairly new term and over the past years it has become a word that few are familar with but is growing rapidly thru todays web users.

After reading and viewing the information on web 2.0 I now know more on the subject. To me web 2.0 is actually adapting to us as web users and our need from the web, that could be from blogging to many social networks. When i began to research the topic i was still unsure about what i was reading because at first it seemed to me to be the same web that I have always used, but its not its way more than that. Its somewhat of a small community connected through our computer to bring us together in what is known as a network and within this network we can communicate with each other in a less formal fashion. But i didn’t really understand until i watched the Youtube (web 2.0) video and it gave me a more broad look on the subject. Not only is it not the same web but it has actually grew with me becoming what we know as web 2.0. I feel like that me may be a reason that i never really notice the changes because it changes as I change and someone who is of my age would feel the same because over the years the web has gotten better. So in conclusion the question what is web 2.0, it is US, in everyday that we utilize the web and as long as we change it will change and become better for us to use.
